Thank you very much for your letter of May 3rd., from which I note that you are awaiting reply from Hong Kong regarding claims not relating to goods actually supplied. I have telegraphed to the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce telling them that nothing further can be done at this end until the Hong Kong

(13) Government replies to your dispatch, and they may

be able to help in expediting action on that side.

I am most grateful for your interest

in this matter. I am sure you can do nothing but good in trying to get some early settlement, because the interest charges on these big sums are mounting up at a most disturbing rate, and, in my view, it will sooner or later be for H.M.G. to meet this cost.
